Clinical Translation

We are passionate about doing research that reaches the clinic and improves people’s lives.

Julian’s discoveries have had a major impact on understanding how hypertension, heart failure and sleep apnoea develop and progress. This impact of his research has been recognised by technology transfer to partners who currently are working to create new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of these diseases, including a novel pacemaker called ‘brain on a chip’. His work has led to a spin out company (Ceryx Medical Ltd.), which he is a founder member and the chief scientific officer.

Julian has seen his pioneering preclinical research studies progress into clinical trials, demonstrating his impact as a scientific leader in the search for new treatments and understandings of blood pressure control and heart disease.

Naturally inspired medical devices

Using revolutionary biomimetic design principles and patented electronics, Ceryx created a range of smart bioelectronic devices that speak the same language as the human body. When integrated seamlessly into the body’s homeostatic systems, these special medical devices are able to interpret physiologic signals and generate a natural response in real-time, simulating the body’s natural functions. This treatment can be used to restore normal function in heart failure, as well as other conditions including hypertension, spinal cord injuries and endocrine disorders such as diabetes.

With five years of rigorous laboratory testing and pre-clinical evaluations already under its belt, Ceryx’s technology has the potential to treat some of the world’s deadliest diseases.
